Week 4 Sunday July 2, Day of Rest. We finally have some fun.
Hi, in preparation for work tomorrow, we decided to take a float down
the river with Will and Dorothy. 6 hours of bliss. Nice! No bugs,
and not so hot on the cold river. After, while I waited for the van
pickup, I walked over to the gravel pit across the street and took a
photo of two vehicles dumped by the girl friend? with a note saying
who owns the stuff. Then Dorothy treated us to home made ice
cream.....full fat, fantastic.
Hope I can sleep in till 7. Greg threatened to come again at 6 if
the heat keeps up.

Monday July 3, 2006 Week 4 day 1. Mike's Spa
Hi, today the sheathing went on the tower roof. We had a conference with Greg this morning and discussed the overhang and how it interfered with the view. We arrived at a good compromise, the eaves shortening a bit, and the pitch changing a bit on the north and south side. Hard to explain with a hip roof as things are a bit complicated, but with puzzleman, it doesn't seem to be a problem. He seems to thrive on problems. Zapper was absent today, we're hoping its because its a legal holiday and he probably thought he had one , too. Anyhow, Greg put strapping on the rafters so there would be good air flow. He cut one window open on the south side, now we have a little view. The roof(old and new) gets done this week. Not very interesting (for me) and very hot work as the weather continues to be hot (nearly 100' in the shade on the roof-thankfully its very dry.... 30' humidity). So the fun is over for a bit. Michael is taking full advantage of the unfinished greenhouse by hosing it down and resting in the pool of water that heats up nicely due to the concrete getting hot during the day. A well deserved indulgence after a 10 hour day working!
We'll go to Calgary on Thur for our anniversary. We have tickets for a concert (Richard Thompson) so will leave here mid afternoon. Then a shopping day Fri, a visit with Mike's father and Rick and Janet who are arriving today from France.

Week 4 Day 1 Tuesday July 4, 2006. All Covered Up
Hi, we had to leave at 5 yesterday to have dinner with Dermot(John) and Anne in Invermere. They're out visiting Dermot's mother for a few days. We also went to a friend's opening at the local art gallery-it was a fun evening. With luck, D&A will also come here for a visit tonight.
We had a wild little storm Monday night, everything survived fine. The sky threatens from time to time and we had a few showers last night. It continues to be hot, but it should break by the end of the week, right after the roof is finished. The guys are taking a beating in the sun. Yesterday the mudroom roof was finished. Today the shingles are being put on the tower and part of the main roof. It will be a relief to get that finished, we hope by tomorrow as we go to Calgary and I don't want any worries while we're away.
Michael was called to go up to the fire tower today, but he had to decline-at least until next week, but even then he's not ready. Now, we're hoping for rain this weekend!
Well, I should go back to my job-clean up. I just put a bunch of the old shingles in the van for the trip to the dump tomorrow.

Week 4 Day 3 Wednesday July 5, 2006. Just In Time
Hi, Looks like nasty thunderstorms await us tonight. No tarps tonight, we're pretty tight, though I'm a bit worried about wind. Michael had the binocs out checking out a fire W of Parson. We like the look of the tower, kinda like an Italian villa. The metal shingles look good enough-they will be most visible on the mudroom. Have to back up quite a way up the drive to get this view of the tower, I used a zoom. The tower is still awaiting ridge caps, but Greg shingled it by himself today. He thinks he lost 10 pounds in the process and he's skinny to begin with. He went through quite a few saw blades. Hope he made it to the hardware store in time tonight to get more. He brought me two sinks he was going to dump....one will be perfect for a studio sink. There was quite a mess tonight to clean up. A dump visit on our way to Calgary tomorrow. Dermot and Anne will come on Sunday which works out better for us. Today was hot again, but perhaps this system will cool things down. We're looking forward to our trip to Calgary, though we have at least one day of shopping to do. I prepare the list tomorrow. The thunder is starting, sweet sleep might be delayed.
