Preparing for the Dust Storm

Hi, The mosquitoes have cooled down just a bit so I can get out without going crazy. Today, we had our first smokey skies. I have to check the government website to see if any are close to Harrogate. There have been enough storms to start fires. Another hot day today-33'C. I'm keeping the gardens well watered. Dwayne says he'll start sanding tomorrow so I got everything covered up. I'm sure some will still get downstairs.....it has its ways. If all goes well he should finish by the weekend. I've got the primer, and just one can of the studio white, just have to be sure I like the color. And the ceiling white. Will wait to decide what color to paint the tower after the windows are in. I have some ideas, but that might change. The windows are ready for delivery, but the trouble is the trucker.....he was going to Golden tomorrow for a pick- up and the window company is trying to get mine delivered the same day....however, I didn't hear back today so I still don't know when they'll come. I guess when they do come, they'll end up in the mud room, so that means I won't be able to paint the floor this weekend. Not that I don't have enough to do. Yesterday I was overcome with the urge to install the new kitchen faucet. I thought for sure it would be easier than the bathroom sink. Little did I know I'd have to take the sink out to get the old one off and the new one on. Fortunately, our neighbor Will was home, because I couldn't get the faucet off. I took it up and he had it off in a jiffy. I spent another frustrating 3 hours gettting everything clean, trying to get the new faucet to fit the old holes, etc, and in the end I'm not at all happy with the job I did. But I have a new faucet that works well. Today I didn't work too hard. The door I want for the tower catwalk is a little too big for the rough opening Greg built. mmmm. will wait till he gets back to see what can be done. Anyhow, I can't wait for the messy stuff to be over!

It's almost August, and what, it's not finished Hi, just can't get used to Dwayne's hours. 4-6 a day. No wonder its not done. However, I've decided to relaxxxxx, kind of. At least I'm not tired like I was. Plenty of time to think of the finishing, which isn't easy either. I'm sure Greg has ideas, but I have to firm up what I want in the bathroom. I've decided to ditch the tiles I got...they look a little like the color of cardboard. I looked briefly in Golden on Mon and I'm sure I can come up with something better. After my kitchen sink experience this week, I wish I could come up with a plan to make things easy, but I haven't found one yet. The double sink will be handy. I should have quizzed Mike about what he'd like for making beer and wine(I've always thought he could use the new bathroom to make it), but the cell phone connection in the fire tower is so lousy, I can't begin to discuss it, so I'll just have to wing it. I think a big counter will do. Anyhow, I've had to do a little mudding myself, as Dwayne seems to be ignoring the old dry wall unless there is an obvious gash. I didn't ask today if tomorrow is the last day.....I don't think it is.(He only started sanding today) So I probably won't be painting Sunday. I still haven't been to the dump. Things are supposed to cool down a bit on Sunday, so I think I'll go Sunday morning. Looking forward to having Greg and his team back Monday. Things need to speed up again! oh, and the windows still aren't here. What's a woman to do?
Love, Jane
P.S. I watered the lightening rod ground today. --
